Here Are Some Tips When Eating Away From Home
“Grilled,” “baked,” or “steamed” are usually good choices. Always ask about marinades, butter, and oils that might be used.Check with your server or chef each time you visit and ask to read labels whenever you have concerns.
Chain restaurants can use different ingredients in different location or on different days.
Try to avoid restaurants that cook mainly foods that contain gluten or are known for creating random marinades.
Restaurant foods may contain "natural flavorings" with unknown ingredients.
Occasionally the wrong order may arrive or one obviously prepared with ingredients you asked the staff to omit. If you keep the incorrect one at your table until they bring the new one, you’ll know they didn't just “scrape something off" the original one.
Be careful with buffet-style catered food or potlucks. Other guests can inadvertently mix things. Also, there are too many cooks involved to know what is safe.
